RESOLUTION AND MINUTES OF DISCUSSION

The 1st meeting of the research committee and Advisory Board was held in the office of
the Dr. S.K.Tamotia, Director General and Chairperson of the Political Harmony. Dr. Tamotia
chaired the session.
The following members were presents :-

At the outset Dr. S.K.Tamotia welcome the members with his self introduction. He also
presented a full picture of Bharatiya Vidya Bahvan and its various academic, research activities
undertaken by Bhavan in India and abroad. Dr. Tamotia explained the purpose of the meeting
as the Chairperson and urged the members of the research committee and Advisory Board to
throw light on different Areas of research to be explored with ultimate objective to support the
Political Harmony.
Prof. H.K.Swain introduced all the members with their vast research experience in their
respective super specialization areas.
Prof. F.M. Sahoo opened the discussion on present trend of interdisciplinary research
and the development of measurement tools and their application in social sciences. He
proposed to take up the research project on “Policy Implications on Aged People” which is
having bearing on psychological age, generation gap, value system with old people different
from young people. He also suggested operational measures taking the characteristics of
youth and adults as the parameters of research. This will contribute towards Policy making at
Goverment level.
Prof. (Mrs.) Bijayini Mohanty proposed, “There is close proximity of society with women
and youth participation in local administration and governance”. She suggested more utilization
of young generation for governance which can bring harmony in both politics and society.
Prof. P.K.Sarkar has proposed the problem of “Land acquisition and conflict in new
industrialization process”. It involves payment of compensation, development, violation of
human rights and social bondage which is a burning researchable topic in odisha with particular
reference to Vedanta, Posco and TATA.
Prof. B.Satpathy suggested to undertake research on “Gandhian Philosophy with
integration of society for social harmony to reduce disparity in society”. This can be done on
normative basis of research.
Prof. S.N.Mishra stated with “Buddhist Studies and its contribution to harmony in
society to reduce class and caste war for social integration”. He suggested “Ratna Gir, Lalit Gir”
may be taken for research area to study with cultural frame work.
Prof. (Mrs.) B.B.Mohanty suggested social and economic harmony can be with “Self help
group” and guide the researchers.
Prof. (Mrs.) S.P.Patnaik suggested “Women empowerment in rural area” with reference
to common feature in religion. She also suggested there is the alienation of youth to religion
which can be undertaken as research projects for Harmonious ideas in diversity.
Prof. R.N.Pattnaik suggested “Human rights violation in family victim in rural pockets” or
money laundering practices vis-à-vis rural banks in rural areas in Parlakhemundi Dist of Odisha.
Prof. (Mrs.) Navaneetha Rath suggested that the study of “Child Poverty with special
reference to child labour with economic, social, security index and prosperity Index (well being
Index) along with their deprivation and synchronization of resilience and vulnerability.
Prof. P.K.Pradhan suggested a study on “Identity crises with youth” and the “Regional
disparity in the state” as the researchable topic.
Prof. G.P.Das suggested research on applied ethics, value system and social belief in the
present context of degeneration social values may be taken up as a research topic. He also
suggested the following topics / areas:-
a. Democracy at work in India today.
b. Empowering the common man : Reality or Ruse
c. Development Projects in India: Who Benefits?
d. Globalization with Human Face : The Indian Syndrome
e. Social Justice in India and Media.
f. Indian constitution as Social Justice: Awards and Achievements.
Prof. R.K.Jena suggested there is need for study on “Conflict Management” because of
generation gap. Thus “Educational harmony” is necessary in the present context. He suggested
five areas of study to bridge the gap in two generations - a comparative analysis: (i) punctuality
(ii) sincerity and commitment (iii) hard work (iv) discipline (v) morality, as the parameters of
study.
Prof. H.K.Swain suggested research on subject which disturbs the young employed
couples; “Work life balance vis-à-vis Family life”.
Prof. (Dr.) Sujata Managaraj a special invitee expressed her keenness to join the
research work. She has suggested “Integration of Human Values in Education” to bring Social
and Political Harmony.
The Chairman suggested that the proposal be submitted in the programme sent on
13.02.2013 (copy enclosed). It was unanimously agreed that the proposal will be sent to
undersigned before month end. Chairman further suggested the progress of research can be
discussed in such type of meetings in every month which will also provide a forum for mutual
discussions and benefits.
The meeting concluded with vote of thanks by Prof. H.K.Swain who offered thanks for
full participation by the members.
